What do we need to bring?
Our homes are fully equipped, including bed linens, towels, an initial supply of paper and soap products (excluding laundry soap) and all kitchen equipment. Many homes have board games, puzzles, and video and reading libraries. The list of things to bring would include your food, clothes, beach towels for the pools (in season, Memorial Day to Labor Day), charcoal for grilling, laundry detergent, personal items and a smile!
How far is your office and your cabins from Gatlinburg?
The Village of Cobbly Nob is a 1000 acre community located on US 321N in between 2 entrances to the National Park and about 15 minutes from the heart of downtown Gatlinburg (5 miles from the city limits and the Arts and Crafts community). All of our homes are within a 2.5 mile drive from our office. We can also be reached year round without having to go through the traffic of Pigeon Forge and Sevierville. Just ask for directions from the Foothills Parkway exit off of Interstate 40 or scenic route 416 through Pittman Center.
What is the difference between a chalet and log home?
A chalet is generally a wood or cedar sided home with accents that might include wood interior, cathedral ceilings with lots of glass, contemporary design or other elements. If it is refered to as a log home, or log look, it is constructed of logs which usually are found on both the interior and exterior.
What is the difference between a hot tub and a jacuzzi?
A hot tub, usually found outside, continuously holds water at a temperature of around 100 degrees and is treated with bromide (similar to chlorine) for sanitation. The same water is used throughout your stay. A jacuzzi is more like a jetted bathtub. The water is added and emptied for each use. Both have jets and/or air pumps to provide for your relaxation.
When is the best time to visit the Smokies and Greenbrier Valley Resorts?
Anytime is the perfect time to come to the Smokies and rent a home from Greenbrier Valley! From the Dogwoods in the spring to the lights of Winterfest, the Smokies offer an eclectic blend of activities for the whole family. It's your preference. You can do it all...or nothing at all!
In the Spring, the allure of fresh colors and blossoming flowers bring visitors from all over the world. There's nothing like an April shower to rejuvenate the mind and soul. There are more wildflowers found in the Smokies than any where else in the world!
Typically the summer months of early June through mid-August are the busiest times. These are prime times for hiking in the Smokies or taking a cool dip in one of the many rivers that outline the area. Nothing tops off a busy day of sightseeing than watching the magnificent kaleidoscope of colors during a summer evening from any of our luxurious mountain top homes.
Fall offers a break from the hustle and bustle of the hectic summer months except on weekends when the crowds are heavy. September & November offer quieter times and fewer visitors. All attractions remain open and less people mean less waiting; not to mention the splendor of color changes that highlight fall in the Smokies. October is the month of change when nature begins it's awesome transformation from greens and yellows to vibrant reds and oranges. If you have never experienced October in the Smokies, you don't know what you are missing. Mid-week stays are the best bet to avoid the largest crowds!
Winterfest kicks off the first week in November and lasts straight through the holidays. Millions of lights decorate Gatlinburg and surrounding areas. It's the perfect time to plan a shopping trip to the area outlet malls, then relax by the fire in one of our cabins. Keep in mind, if crowds are not your thing, avoid all holiday periods or plan on delays for dining, travel and attractions.
Why do you charge a reservation fee of $37.00?
Since all of the homes we manage are owned privately, the reservation fee is an administration cost associated with the management of the homes. There are no other "hidden" charges that some other companies charge such as linen fees, housekeeping fees, hot tub cleaning fees, etc.
Do you provide linens? Washers and Dryers?
We made the decision to employ an outside linen service for our towels and bed linens because we know that the linen service will provide a properly sanitized product. All of our units are equipped with a washer and dryer with the exception of the Lindsey Mill. We do not provide laundry detergent so please remember to bring your own.
What are check-in and check-out times?
Check-in time is 4:00 pm. You're welcome to call if you are in the area sooner to see if your home is ready. If you check-in earlier than 1:00 pm, we reserve the right to charge an early check-in fee of $25.00. Check out time is promptly at 11:00. You are required to turn your keys in to the office. You can call our office to inquire about the availability of a late check-out of up to 5:00pm. If you desire a late check out and it is available, a $25.00 fee is applied.
Do we need to clean the house when we leave?
No, the cleaning is included in the rent charges. We do ask that you leave the home in the general condition that you found it, leave all food items in the refrigerator for housekeeping to discard, run the dishwasher and put all wet towels in a bathtub. Our housekeeping staff will take care of the rest. There is a chance of additional cleaning charges if the home has been left in an unnecessarily messy condition.
Is there a grocery store nearby?
Yes, we recommend Food City, a large supermarket about 10 minutes away towards Gatlinburg. They also have a gas station, pharmacy and video/DVD rentals. There is also a small market for snacks and immediate needs located at the entrance to the Cobbly Nob Resort.
